Their names were everywhere.In Michelle Bertholf's bilingual classroom at Hammond Elementary School in Salem Wednesday, kindergartners' names were on tags above each backpack hook. They were written on name plates at their tables, on stars on the walls and on placards waiting on a side table where they would later be used to signify, "Sí, yo estoy presente."Nearly 2,640 kindergartners had their first, first day of school in Salem-Keizer Public Schools Wednesday. Students in grades 1-12 started last week, but the youngest were still adjusting to what school would look like.
