Passing rates on required standardized tests fell by 9 percentage points across Oregon — and by even greater rates at two of the state's largest school districts — as students took the exams for the first time last spring after two years of pandemic disruption. The state as a whole saw passing rates on English language arts, or reading, exams fall from 53.4% in 2019 to 43.6% last spring. The trend across Oregon was similar on math exams, which saw passing rates decline from 39.4% in 2019 to 30.4% in 2022.
