SALEM, Ore. — Oregon's statewide graduation rate for the class of 2022 was 81.3%, the Oregon Department of Education reported Thursday, the second-highest rate ever recorded in the state. In a news release, the department said the rate signals that Oregon's school systems are recovering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 graduation rate was 80.6%, a 2% decrease from a year before. "When we combine the tremendous resilience of Oregon's youth, the courageous, tireless, work of our educators, and the individualized, student centered resources made available through the Student Success Act and other key initiatives, we're able to make meaningful progress for Oregon's students," ODE Director Colt Gill said in a statement.
